Initial setup a Buffalo NAS from your mobile device



Important Notice to Customers Using the WebAccess i HD and/or SmartPhone Navigator Apps


Applies to “WebAccess i” app for iOS devices and the “WebAccess A” app for Android devices version 2.0.0 or later

Install WebAccess App on your mobile device

1.    Open App Store (iOS or iPadOS devices) or Google Play (Android devices).
2.    Search for and install “WebAccess

Note: WebAccess is a software utility for configuring WebAccess settings, accessing the files in the shared folder of your LinkStation from your mobile devices through the local network or Internet.

You can also install the apps from the QR codes below. Use the appropriate QR code for your mobile device.



App initial setup

1.    Upon launching the app for the first time, you will be presented with the Software End User License Agreement. Scroll to the bottom, check the "Accept the license agreement" box, and tap OK.

2.    Review the introductory feature screens and the Privacy Notice. Tap OK to continue.

3.    On the "Ready to Use" screen, tap Next to begin searching for your NAS.

 

Configuration of a Buffalo NAS

1.    The app will scan your local network for compatible devices. When your NAS appears, tap on it.
If the app cannot find your NAS, make sure your NAS is on the same local network with your mobile device.

2.    A "Configuration Required" pop-up will appear, stating that the initial setup is not yet complete. Tap OK to proceed.

3.    The app will open the NAS's web-based setup wizard. Tap OK on the "Change Password" prompt.

4.    On the "Change Administrator Password" screen, enter a new, secure password in both the "New Password" and "New Password (Confirm)" fields. Tap Next.

5.    On the "Change RAID Array" screen, select your desired RAID mode. We suggest using the default "Keep current RAID mode"). Tap Next.

6.    On the "Time Zone" screen, select your correct time zone from the dropdown list and tap Apply.

7.    Wait for the settings to be saved. A confirmation message, "Initial setup is complete," will appear. Tap OK.

 

Setup WebAccess (Local Access)

1.    After the NAS web interface reloads, a new pop-up will appear: "Initial Setup Complete. Proceed to WebAccess setup." Tap OK.

2.    On the "Enable WebAccess on the NAS" screen.Enter the new admin password you just created in the previous section and tap OK.

3.   After logon to the NAS, the app will show a progress indicator, first "Configuring WebAccess..." and then "Creating a shared folder..."

4.    Once done, a "Configuration Complete" screen will appear. Tap Close.

WebAccess is setup complete and enabled on your NAS.
Now you will be able to access the NAS from the local network.

5.    You can tap the NAS shared folders (like the newly "webaxs" folder created by the setup wizard) and begin managing your files.

6.    For example, click Upload and select the file you want to upload from your mobile device.

Note: Depending on your mobile device OS, it might be required to grant the WebAccess App file access permissions to the mobile device' internal storage.
