1. Setup your Buffalo NAS out of the box 2. Use Buffalo NAS Navigator to connect to the TeraStation WEBUI. How do I install NAS Navigator?
How to Open WEBUI Settings on TeraStation 3-5-7 series
3. Login to the WEBUI. The default password is “password”. Note: From TS5020/3030 series firmware v3.00 or later, the default connection to WEBUI is via HTTPS. You can still switch back to connect via HTTP by clicking "Normal Connection" at the bottom.
4. The first step is to set the administrator password. The new admin password cannot be “password”. You can skip this step and change the password later. Note: Administrator password change is mandatory on TS5020/3030 series firmware v3.00 or later.
5. Select your time zone.
6. Configure the proxy server if your TeraStation is located on the network through the proxy server. 7. (Only on TS5020/3030 series firmware v3.00 or later) Setting up automatic firmware updates options. Automatic update "immediately" will be the default selection.
8. Configure the Remote Management Service if you are using this service. You can skip this step and configure it later. Learn How to setup the Remote Management Service (RMS) here.
9. Select the desired RAID mode. Select “Keep current RAID mode” to use the default array type that’s already configured out of the box. The default RAID mode will depend on different TeraStation bay models. 10. (Only on TS5020/3030 series firmware v3.00 or later) Drive Encryption Settings. Encrypt is the default selection. Note: Drives can be encrypted with 256-bit AES. Encrypted drives and arrays are then readable only from that specific TeraStation. Drive Encryption will erase any existing data on the Drive. Drives' read and write speeds may decrease after drive encryption. 11. (Only on TS5020/3030 series) Configure LVM settings. Please refer to the User Manual for the usage and limitation of LVM.
12. Setup complete. Click “Close”.
13. The TeraStation UI dashboard will show up. At this point the basic configuration is complete and the TeraStation is ready for use.
