How to: Configuring FTP on a LinkStation

  1. Open the LinkStation GUI and click on the settings icon in the quick launch panel.
  2. In settings click on the “FTP” icon under “Services”.
  3. Click the checkbox to enable the FTP service.
  4. You can adjust the TCP port used by FTP as well as the maximum number of clients and clients per host. Once you have the options set as desired click the “Apply” button to save changes.
  5. You should get this message. Click “OK” to continue.
  6. Click the back button in upper left to return to settings.
  7. In settings, click on the “Folder Setup” icon to see the shared folders list.
  8. Click on the folder you want to use for FTP or click the “Add” button to create a new folder for use with FTP.
  9. To enable FTP for a folder click the box for “FTP” in the “LAN Protocols” section and click the “OK” button to save the setting.

In order to access the LinkStation via FTP from a remote location it will probably be necessary to set up port forwarding on your router.
