Centrally Monitor and Manage Your Network’s Storage with Remote Management Service

Remote Management Service on rackmount NAS

Device Monitoring and Firmware Management from Single Console

Buffalo’s Remote Management Service (RMS) allows you to centrally monitor and manage or schedule firmware updates to registered TeraStation Network Attached Storage through a single web-based GUI. Upon registering one or multiple TeraStation NAS to RMS, one can check on status of the device, status of hard drives, and perform simple remote operations. One can also tag important information regarding the device, such as warranty expirations. RMS sends real time notifications of events and errors affecting the device allowing an MSP to keep track of your customers’ devices.

The following Buffalo NAS are compatible with Remote Management Service:

Operating System TeraStation Model
Linux-based NAS Devices TS71210RH
TS5420DN, TS5420RN, TS5820DN, TS51220RH
TS3220DN, TS3420DN, TS3420RN
TS3420DS, TS3420RS
Windows Server-based NAS Devices WS5220DN, WS5420DN, WS5420RN

Multitenant for Multiple Users, Roles and Customers

You can create user roles with unique access privileges and visibility for streamlined resource management. You can also assign multiple users to the same device based on customer or user groups. For example, a sales team member and a technical support team member can be assigned the same customer NAS device to monitor it, or you can have a technician maintain and troubleshoot multiple devices in different locations from the same session.

Web-based Service for Extra Endpoint Security

Unlike competitor products that require the monitoring software to be installed on each individual NAS device, Buffalo's Remote Management Service is in a cloud-hosted environment. You only need to register a NAS device to the Remote Management Service to view its status and updates at any time including last known state while offline. This not only conserves NAS system resources but also prevents possible security vulnerabilities that come with installing a third-party application.
