Buffalo Americas, a leading provider of easy-to-use storage solutions and award-winning pre- and post-sales support, is announcing the release of new TeraStation 5020 series NAS devices, available in partially- and fully-populated 4-bay and 8-bay desktop and rackmount form factors with available capacities from 4-96TB with NAS-grade hard drives included, as well as a 12-bay high-capacity rackmount form factor with available capacity of 8-240TB with enterprise-grade hard drives included. The new TS5020 NAS family will come with a three-year warranty with extended warranty options (five-year warranty for registered TS51220 devices).
The TS5020 combines the acclaimed utility of our TS5010 series and the robust security of our TS6000 into one reliable and secure storage product. To streamline our product offerings, Buffalo will retire the TS5010 and TS6000 products. For more information on transitioning products, click here.
With updated CPU and RAM, the TS5020 offers smoother operations and reduced backup times, even with high-load environments. Fully compatible with VMware and Hyper-V, the TS5020 can be set as an iSCSI backup target and iSCSI replication capable, allowing you to fully leverage virtualization to enhance your performance and security. The TS5020 also includes Btrfs, a next-generation file system that provides native data protection, smoother file operations, and increased snapshot features.
The TS5020 is Buffalo’s more secure NAS yet, featuring robust security features such as two-factor authentication (2FA) to protect your login credentials, drive encryption, a closed system, and a myriad of on- and offline backup features to protect your data. In addition, the TS5020 will include the acclaimed snapshots feature from our TS6000 devices—a true game changer when it comes to short-term data backup and restore. A snapshot is a full virtual copy of your local data that you can easily restore from anytime. They can be easily created manually or automatically scheduled, and you can recover data from them near-instantaneously, without having to undergo cumbersome backup recovery processes and thus saving you both time and money. Snapshots are highly-scalable, allowing you to recover individual files to entire storage volumes, and can help mitigate the rampant threat of ransomware by reverting any encrypted files to a previously-uninfected state.
