Restoring Data Deleted by OneDrive Sync Issue on a Buffalo NAS Device

Restore files on OneDrive cloud:

Deleted files will be saved in the OneDrive recycle bin for a short period*. Refer to Microsoft Support page on how to restore deleted files from the OneDrive recycle bin.

*Files in the recycle bin will be kept for 30 days for a personal account, and 93 days for a business account.

After the restoration, check if the restored files were automatically synchronized back to the NAS. If not, manually restore them using the procedures below.

 

 

Restore files from OneDrive cloud to a Buffalo NAS Device

  • Option1

Note: This option is not available on the LS700 series. Please use option2 below for LS700 series

  1. First complete the steps above to Restore the files on OneDrive cloud.
  2. Open OneDrive Settings on the TeraStation WEBUI.
     
  3. Select the task that encountered this issue and click "Reset". 

 

  1. Wait for the files in the NAS to be re-synced with OneDrive. Files that already exist will be overwritten (depends on the sync direction setting)

 

 

  • Option2
  1. Open OneDrive Settings on the TeraStation WEBUI.
     
  2. Select the task that encountered this issue and click "Delete". 

 

  1. Click "Add" to create a new OneDrive task.

 

  1. Set the sync action to "Download".

 

  1. Select the recovery destination shared folder on NAS and the source folder on OneDrive to be synchronized.

 

  1. Continue to configure the rest of the synchronization settings. Recovery settings are now complete.

 

  1. Monitor the sync job to confirm that the data on OneDrive has been downloaded to the destination shared folder on NAS.

 

  1. After data recovery, delete the recovery task and reconfigure the original sync tasks as needed.
