Product: WS5020 IoT 2019
Last Updated: 08/01/2025
Applies to: Acronis Cyber Protect 15 WS5020N9 IoT 2019 series
1. First we will install Acronis Cyber Protect on our WS5020 NAS. In order to use the WS5020 NAS as a Cyber Protect management server, we will install both the protection agent and the management server.
2. After the installation, go ahead and logon to the Cyber Protect management portal from the WS5020.
3. Navigate to the Backup Storage tab. Here you will be able to add a Network folder via SMB to be the backup storage.
4. Please note that in order to have the protection agent on the remote server to be able to use WS5020 local storage space as a backup target, we will need to create a Share on WS5020 and add it to the Cyber Protect’s backup storage using Network folder option instead of adding the storage as a Local folder option.
5. To add a device to be backed-up, navigate to the Devices tab.
6. For demonstration we will add a Windows workstation to be the backup source.
7. Specify the machine information and install the agent to the machine.
8. To backup the added machine, navigate to the Protection tab under Plans.
9. From the Create protection plan, click Add devices.
10. Select the machine you want to backup.
11. From “What to backup”, select if you want to backup the entire machine or specific disks/volumes.
12. From “Where to backup”, select the WS5020’s Share folder path that we just added to the backup storage. Please make sure that the backup source machine are able to communicate with the WS5020 Network Share folder.
13. Click on the key icon to specify the credentials of the WS5020 Share which has folder write access.
14. Select the Schedule settings and Backup scheme as desired.
15. Click Create to finish the Protection plan creation.
16. After the backup job successfully run, the Cyber Protect backup archives should be located on the WS5020 local folder.
