Note: If creating a virtual disk over 2TB, ensure that the OS of the host assigned to use the target supports volumes of that size.

  6. Create a new iSCSI target assigned to the new virtual disk.

  7. Give the target a descriptive name. This name is visible to clients. Do not use spaces in this field. Click Next..

  8. Click Add to assign servers to access this volume.

Note: To avoid data corruption or loss, do not assign multiple Windows systems to access the same iSCSI target unless using Microsoft Cluster Services to manage access.

  9. You must identify the initiator(s) that will be granted access.
For example we entered the IQN (iSCSI Qualified Name), which is the most common and recommended method.
You would get this value from the client server's iSCSI Initiator configuration tool.

  10. Once the correct server/servers have been added to the access list, click Next.
You can add multiple initiators if you're creating a shared disk for a cluster.

  11. If desired, enable CHAP authentication for the target.
    11.jpg

  12. Verify that all information is correct and click Create.
    12.jpg

  13. The creation process time will vary depending on the size of the target.
    13.jpg

  14. Once the process is completed, click Close.

  15. The iSCSI target and virtual disk should now appear in Server Manager.

Your iSCSI target is now configured and running. The next step would be to go to your client server (the initiator) and use the iSCSI Initiator tool to connect to this newly created target.
