Configuring macOS Time Machine with a Buffalo external hard drive

1.    Connect your Buffalo external hard drive to your Mac.
Note: Make sure your external hard drive does not contain any needed data since the external drive will be wiped during the process.

2.    From the Mac desktop, click on "Go" from the menu bar and select "Applications".

3.    Double-click "System Settings".

4.    Click "General" at the left, then click "Time Machine" at the right.

5.    Click on "Add Backup Disk".

6.    Click on the external drive, click "Set Up Disk..."

7.    You can setup Encrypt Backup as desired. Click "Done" to finish TimeMachine setup.

8.    Time Machine should automatically be turned on now. 
At this point setup is finished.
