USB Transfer Modes
This MiniStation transfers files in either UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) mode or BOT (Bulk Only Transport) mode, but a computer equipped with one of the target CPUs may not support USB drives in UASP mode. By using USB Mode Manager to change the MiniStation’s USB transfer mode to BOT mode, the MiniStation will be compatible with computers running the target CPUs.
USB Mode Manager will set the MiniStation to one of the following modes.

- Auto Mode (Default)
The MiniStation will be set to this mode when you launch USB Mode Manager on a computer with a CPU other than the target ones. In this mode, the MiniStation will switch between UASP mode and BOT mode automatically for best performance when transferring files.

- BOT Mode
The MiniStation will be set to this mode when you launch USB Mode Manager on a computer with one of the target CPUs.In this mode, the MiniStation will always transfer files in BOT mode.

Notes:
• On a computer with one of the target AMD CPUs, the USB transfer mode cannot be changed to auto mode.
• It is recommended to backup any data on the MiniStation before changing the USB transfer mode.
• If you change the USB transfer mode to BOT mode, the transfer speed may become slow.
• If you have any questions, please contact Buffalo technical support.

Changing the USB Transfer Mode Using USB Mode Manager
1 Download the USB Mode Manager application. UnZIP the compressed file.
2 Connect the MiniStation to the computer. Except for the keyboard and mouse, remove all other USB devices from the computer.
3 Execute “USBModeManager.exe” from the unzipped folder.
4 Make sure a single MiniStation is the only USB drive connected to the computer.
If there is no need to change the USB transfer mode for your computer environment, a message informing you
so will appear, but you can still change the USB transfer mode for another computer that is equipped with an AMD CPU.

Note: Make sure multiple USB drives are not connected to your computer. If you connect multiple USB drives
to your computer, you may change the USB transfer mode for the wrong MiniStation by accident. A message
prompting you to connect the MiniStation to a computer may also appear repeatedly, even if you have already
connected it.

5 Make sure that your computer is not accessing any files on the MiniStation. Accessing files while changing the USB transfer mode may corrupt them.

6 A message appears to confirm that you will switch the USB transfer mode. Click OK. Do not disconnect the MiniStation until the USB transfer mode is changed. Disconnecting the MiniStation while changing the USB transfer mode may cause the MiniStation to malfunction.

7 A message appears after changing the transfer mode finishes. Click OK and close the application.
