How to configure DLNA on an LS520D

Last Updated: 10/14/2024

The LinkStation 520D can function as a DLNA server. DLNA is standard for streaming media over a local network. You can stream movies, music, and photos from the LS520D to any DLNA enabled device. This includes most smart TV’s, many game consoles, PC’s, and various dedicated streaming media devices. Please see the documentation for the client device for instructions on accessing media on a DLNA server.

DLNA is turned on by default for the default public folder. If you wish to disable DLNA, follow these steps:

  1. Open the LinkStation GUI and click on the settings icon in the quick launch panel.
  2. Click on the “DLNA Server” icon under “Services”.
  3. Uncheck the box to disable the DLNA server.

To refresh the DLNA Server database, follow these steps:

  1. Open the LinkStation GUI and click on the settings icon in the quick launch panel.
  2. Click on the “DLNA Server” icon under “Services”.
  3. Click the “Yes” button next to “Refresh Database”.

If you seem to be experiencing a problem with the DLNA Server try restarting the service by following these steps:

  1. Open the LinkStation GUI and click on the settings icon in the quick launch panel.
  2. Click on the “DLNA Server” icon under “Services”.
  3. Click the “Restart” button to restart the service.

To add a new folder to the DLNA database follow these steps:

  1. Open the LinkStation GUI and click on the settings icon in the quick launch panel.
  2. Click the “Folder Setup” icon under “Services”.
  3. Click the folder you want to add to the DLNA Server. If you want to create a new folder to hold media, click the “Add” button.
  4. On the folder properties screen you can either enable or disable DLNA support for this folder by checking/unchecking the “DLNA” box.
  5. Click the “OK” button to save changes.
